Our research is based on a survey conducted with 456 married women, residing in Daegu or Kyungpook Province. This study aims to verify (1) the direct effects of the prior parental dedication to daughters during childhood on the middle-aged daughters` later emotional and normative commitment to the physical caring-giving to their elderly parents who can not perform day-to-day activities; (2) the multiple mediating effects of the intimacy between middle-aged daughters and their elderly parents, and the burden of physical care-giving, on the influence of prior parental dedications on the middle-aged daughters` emotional commitment of or normative commitment of the physical care-giving to their elderly parents; (3) the moderating effect of the employment status on the causal relationships among major variables in the research model of this study. In order to address our research questions, a structural equation model by using Amos and Mplus is explored. The indirect mediators are verified based on (bc)bootstrapping analysis using Mplus. The moderating effects are verified based on the multiple group analysis method. Some practical implications are suggested based upon the findings of this study.
